I think what impressed me the most was how you went about doing the special effects in the action sequences. I was much impressed by the timing to the sound bits and how 'powerful' they were both visually and feeling wise. It was funny too, though nothing too new or insanely interesting.
Everything else is just about average. Artwork could use improving, but you got timing and overall layout of an animation just fine. Keep it up =)
It's nice to see a good Wind waker -ish themed flash movie on Newgrounds finally! Even if it's a loop.
lol I'm digging the additions too that you made to the flash from the original. Poor Niko...I'm glad you let Tetra keep her head at least! Even if she looks traumatized now XD I would be too around Tingle...and orgasmic Links >>
Got some mighty lovely smooth animation here, and the beat itself is pretty amusing too. The animation compliments it well. Good job!
I'll admit the first two kinda bored me. But now I gotta go rewatch them to make sure I'm not being stupid lol. Great job on this! I laughed when that guy fell down the stairs XD Comedy gold man. Keep it up!
Btw I think the link to Episode 1 is broken. I click it and nothing happens. Might wanna fix =3
I must say, this music is much better than in your other set of Neenja volumes. Kudo's to the music artist, and kudos to you for the wickedly good animation and story!
It's somewhat original and the animating itself is pretty good yeah, but it's nothing too new or interesting. And like everyone said, it's short. I was expecting it to be much longer due to have a 11.2 filesize. You need to learn how to compress Flash and the audio in it. also, try changing up the music for each part. It's boring to here the same song in the intro.
Try harder next time, and for the love of God, compress your next one. I'm surprised Fulp let this pass.
Would have been much more useful with a preloader. Plus it being a loop is annoying. Research some action script and make it stop at the end with a replay button. It'll be much better that way.
As is though, it's pretty funny. glad you put subtitles.
Finally! Something more from you! I'm a fan of your earlier work, so it's nice to see something new from you!
Your style improvement is a nice touch. They look much more complex, even if they still are a bit blocky/pointy. But it's not distracting enough to take away from the overall flash, and it's become a signature of sorts anyway for you. So don't change it!
The storyline confused me a little, but I still enjoyed watching this. I'm surprised none of your flashing abilities dwindled after a 3 year break. I guess your just that good =P
Can definitely see this going somewhere. Although I see room for improvement. Some suggestions for next chapter...then I shall say good things! =D
1. While the lack of some quiet creepy music gives it a sense of suspense, I feel it might be better with SOME sort of ambiance in the background. All that white silence makes it feel like it's lacking some much needed atmosphere.
2. The character models need some sort of sprucing up. More dynamic shading in spots other than their hair would probably do them justice moreso than anything else.
3. The scenes kinda dragged on at too slow a pace. It picked up nicely towards the end though, when the characters finally got in contact with one another. But in the beginning, it was slow. It was obvious that the environment was tattered from the start. No need to spend as much time as you did making your character notice this =P
That's about it though. The voice of the main character could use some sort of 'emotion' to him like the other characters. He sounded a bit monotoned. But it's not that bad.
Despite the quirks I had though, the voice overs were well recorded and pitched. the environment details were drop dead lovely and the sound quality was superb as well! Animation itself was a bit lacking due to such slow movement on the characters part (lotta tweening can be boring to watch), but they looked realistic when they say turned their head and such.
Keep up the good work though! I will be watching for more to see your improvement =3
At the moment, it's kinda dull and boring. But you did say this was practice, and I suppose for a test, it's not that bad. I think Sonic could have been running faster maybe (kinda felt like he was running with some sort of restraining on his movements). Love the music though, and it seems you know how to handle music well in a flash.
The sprite where Sonic stopped randomly to lay down looked a bit odd, like pixel-y. Might have been a bad sprite or it wasn't cropped well. But easily fixable. I think the biggest issue is, you should make it much longer next time. Maybe something funny or random. Sprite sonic is usually good fodder for that =P
I was trying to use the sprites, for actions sonic doesnt really have (at least any sprites I could find).
The intent was to have him stop so fast that he falls backwards, then flips around so hes lying down facing the other way (the pose from the games continue screen)
I also just realized I completely forgot the charge-up sound for the end... I will have to get that.
Im working on my next one, and im actually currently working on beefing up his running!
this actually made me laugh out loud XD And that's hard to do in my case. didn't expect the machine to do that (but you'd think with all the time and flashes I see on NG, I should by now lol).
I'm not much knowing for stop animation, but the 2D animation was decent. And the expressions made me lul. But it looks unfinished. too bad you had to cut most of it. But Nice job =) you get a 7 for good attempt! Keep at it!
